抗體(antibody)指機體的免疫系統在抗原刺激下，由B淋巴細胞或記憶細胞增殖分化成的漿細胞所產生的、可與相應抗原發生特異性結合的免疫球蛋白。主要分布在血清中，也分布于組織液及外分泌液中。

自身抗體是指針對自身組織，器官、細胞及細胞成分的抗體。人體的生長、發育和生存有完整的自身免疫耐受機制的維持，正常的免疫反應有保護性防御作用，即對自身組織、成分不發生反應。—旦自身耐受的完整性遭到破壞，則機體視自身組織、成分為“異物"，而發生自身免疫反應，產生自身抗體。正常人體血液中可以有低滴度的自身抗體，但不會發生疾病，但如果自身抗體的滴度超過某—水平，就可能對身體產生損傷，誘發疾病。
